In this article, we will go over the Supported Protocol for Try-In Bite Adjustments using stone models.
If your case includes stone models, you have two options for submitting your new bite:
Option 1: Upload the new bite to the attachments section.
1. Compress the new bite into a .zip file. (The new bite needs to be in a .DCM format)
2. Open your case, navigate to the files tab, click on the attachments section, and drag and drop your .zip file.
3. Place the case in redesign.
Redesign Message: "Please adjust the previous design according to the new bite uploaded to the attachments section."
Important: Do not upload any new initial scans, as this could confuse the designers.
Option 2: Follow the protocol for bite adjustment within 3Shape Dental System.
Please follow the next steps:
1. Please adjust the bite accordingly until the patient is comfortably biting down, and keep the new bite in place with a bite registration mousse.
2. Download the designed case, by opening the case on the platform, and clicking “actions – download files – finished scans – download”.
3. Open your 3Shape Dental System. Right-click and select "Advanced" and then "Import".
4. Once the designed case is imported, right-click on it and select “copy – copy and reuse CAD design”.
5. A new file will be generated from the designed file.
6. Right-click on the new case, and select scan.
7. It will then prompt you to rescan the new bite and align it to the design of the try-in. We recommend aligning it with the 3-point alignment.
You will have a green check on both steps, meaning the new bite was imported and aligned.
8. Click on "Design".
9. It will ask you if you want to keep the design, click on "yes".
10. Save and close the design.
11. Then export the case by right-clicking “advanced – export”.
12. Open the existing case that’s already on the platform, go to file, scroll down to initial scans, click on it, then upload (by doing drag and drop) the new compressed zip file that was just scanned and exported.
13. Once it’s uploaded, go to the Actions tab, and select Redesign. A message box will pop up, type in the
adjustments that were physically made to the try-in, and any other adjustments (examples: change shade to B1, longer/shorter teeth specifying teeth mould, midline, etc.) and type please send final files.
14. The case will then be sent back into the needs approval folder, where the case will be sent back for approval and can be looked over a final time. From here you can “approve and manufacture” or download the files for in-house manufacturing.
