The Science Behind Denture Bite Registration Markings:
To minimize the need for patients to return for bite registration try-ins, reduce chair-time losses, and enhance overall patient satisfaction, it is crucial to ensure accurate bite registration markings.
Our removable lab technicians rely on these markings to effectively convey the desired teeth setup.
Midline - The midline is arguably the most important marking on a wax rim. This particular marking would determine the majority of the aesthetic aspect of the prosthesis. In addition, facial midline and oral midline do not always line up. It is up to the restorative dentist to make sure that the midline is in the proper aesthetic zone.
Canine Line - The size of the teeth is crucial in making sure proportions and natural look is optimal. To achieve this, we have to make sure that canine lines are marked so that the technician can properly determine the right size for the patient.
Smile Line - This particular marking would greatly help the technician in determining the optimal teeth setup and the right size. Other than the Midline, if the Smile Line is not done properly, it is the first aesthetic problem that the patient would recognize.
Occlusal Plane - The overall aesthetic, Curve of Spee, and Curve of Wilson would be greatly achieved if the Occlusal Plane is done properly. This particular marking ties in all the peripheral aesthetics that the patient would otherwise not see. This will also determine how well-balanced the teeth arrangements are during try-in.
