While downloading STLs directly from the 3Shape Design Services Platform is convenient for simple cases, with larger cases it can sometimes be challenging to identify which STL or abutment is linked to which unit. Managing this manually can lead to confusion.
If you're considering generating CAM files in-house, it can be a great option for several reasons:
-
Easier Workflow Management: By handling CAM files internally, you can manage manufacturing folders more effectively with your workflows. This ensures the process flows seamlessly, just like you designed it in-house.
-
FIles Management: After generating CAM files, you should be able to manage them within your system. This minimizes the risk of errors and streamlines your workflow.
-
Reducing Human Error: Renaming files manually can introduce human error. By managing CAM files in-house, you can implement solutions that reduce this risk and ensure accuracy.
This way, you can optimize your workflow and maintain better control over your manufacturing process and files.
Please follow the next steps:
1. Navigate to your Control Panel.
2. Go to System Settings.
3. Scroll down to, Miscellaneous, and on the Tooth index system make sure you have "Universal Numeric Notation".
4. Go back to the Control Panel and navigate to Site Settings, then click on Manufacturing Processes.
5. Click on the desired manufacturing process and make sure that the option for "Add tooth index to CAM file name" is checked.
Note: This has to be selected for each manufacturing process associated with your orders.
6. Save your changes and exit out of your Control Panel.
Once this is done, Please follow these steps:
1. Download the finished design file from the case we designed for you, and import it back into your 3Shape Dental System.
Please click here to review the steps on How to import back the designs to the 3Shape Dental System.
2. Right-click on the case, go to advanced click on Generate CAM output, and then click on Explore CAM.
Note: If any CAM was generated previously for the case, please make sure you delete those files before generating CAM again to avoid confusion.
Now the files will contain the Tooth Number next to the order name, this will match the information you have on the Design Service Platform.
