To import scans into 3Shape, follow these general steps:
1. Open 3Shape Dental System
- Launch the 3Shape Dental System software on your workstation.
2. Create a New Order
- Navigate to the Order Form.
- Select New Order and choose the type of restoration or case you are working on.
- Fill in patient and case information, such as the name, teeth involved, etc.
- Click OK when ready.
4. Open the Scanning Module
- In the 3Shape software, open the scanning module or import section. This might be labeled differently depending on your specific workflow or setup (e.g., Import Scans or Scan It Module).
5. Import the Scan Files
- Select Import and browse your local computer or network location to find the scan files.
- 3Shape supports a variety of scan file formats, such as:
- .STL (Standard Tessellation Language)
- .PLY (Polygon File Format)
- .3OXZ (native 3Shape scan format)
- DICOM (for CT scans)
6. Check Scan Quality
- Once the files are imported, verify the quality and completeness of the scan.
- Use the software tools to inspect the model for any missing areas or imperfections.
7. Align Scans (if needed)
- If the scan includes multiple pieces (e.g., upper and lower jaws), align the scans using the available alignment tools in 3Shape.
- This can involve manually aligning reference points or using the automatic alignment feature.
8. Save and Proceed to Design
- After verifying the scan, save the case and move on to the design phase, or hand it off to the appropriate design team member for further processing.
