When sending cases to Automate, both Crown and Nightguard cases are really dependent on the scan quality, meaning that any extra data or corrupt data will greatly affect the results of the design, even sometimes generating an error message, some examples of these error messages are the following:
To avoid or fix these issues is always better to have trimmed and refined scans:
The best approach to scan trimming is by doing it at the moment that the patient is being scanned, to do it just select the trimming tool while scanning:
If you did not scan the patient or the scans are already post-processed, this will not be an option and you will need to trim the scans after importing them or by selecting the already imported scans.
1. Select the scans you want to work with and open the "model builder" option:
2. After a couple of seconds the system will automatically generate a trimmed model, most of the time this will be perfect, you can just accept it and save the files:
3. Once saved, you can just go back and create a new case using these scans:
*Please note that sometimes the filename will be an issue when exporting the scans, so please make sure to rename the files "Upper" and "Lower" to prevent any issues.
