In this article, we will go over the different Splint types available.
ST-1: Flat plane.
Simple, with no extra elements. We will respect the type of printing (SI) requested.
ST-2: Anterior contact.
- In "upper" splints, generally, due to the human anatomy, the anterior contact is created practically on its own.
We will simply adapt the contacts according to the impression (IF) requested.
- On the contrary, "lower" splints only carry previous contact if it is specifically requested through this code.
ST-4: Canine guide.
ST-6: Anterior guide.
If it is not explicitly requested, ST-6 (anterior guidance), includes ST-2 (anterior contact) and ST-4 (canine guidance).
ST-7: Deprogrammer.
By standard, it carries contact with the antagonist from canine to canine, but if requested, it can carry contact from lateral to lateral or only in the centrals.
ST-8: Canine guide with rounded surface.
This code is practically the same as ST-4, but with the lingual/palatal-occlusal and vestibular-occlusal edges slightly rounded with the "Smooth" tool.
ST-9: Anterior ramp with rounded surface.
The ramp is less pronounced than the guide.
This code also has the lingual/palatal-occlusal and vestibular-occlusal edges slightly rounded with the "Smooth" tool.
ST-10: "Flat" with rounded surface.
This code is the same as ST-1, but with the lingual/palatal-occlusal and vestibular-occlusal edges slightly rounded with the "Smooth" tool.
ST-11: Flat lower splint with a small anterior arresting element in the centrals.
ST-12: Simple Uniform Thickness
Do not add any "Raise Surface". Do not add any occlusal material. Do not adapt the design.
This code can be combined with other codes, but on its own, it should not be used.
ST-13: Anterior ramp.
This code has the same creation process as ST-6 (previous guide), but much less elevated. In other words, the ramp is less pronounced than the guide.
