In this article, you’ll find everything you need to know about recent changes, how to update and use the Design Service Button, and troubleshooting tips to ensure smooth operations.
As of September 30th, 2024, the DSP integration button will no longer function for Dental System versions older than DS2021.2.2. We recommend upgrading to the latest version of the Dental System to ensure continued use of the integration.

Updating the 3Shape Design Service Button
To update the Design Service Button:
1. Open the Control Panel on your server.
2. Go to the Download Center section.
3. Select the Download Libraries option.
4. Locate and choose the 3Shape Design Service Plugin from the list.
5. Click on Import.
6. Save the changes and close the window. Your Dental System will restart automatically.
Using the 3Shape Design Service Button
Upload Orders
1. Open Dental System.
2. Select/highlight the order(s) you want to send to 3Shape Design Services.
3. Click the Upload Orders Button.
4. In the dialog box, enter your DSP username and password (only required for the first submission).
5. Confirm the order(s) you want to send.
6. The 3Shape Design Service Platform will open in your browser. You can review, modify, and submit your order(s) as needed.
Once submitted, the order(s) will appear in the “Sent for Design” category on the platform.
Download Orders
There are 2 ways to use the download button.
Important: If the order was uploaded via Drag and Drop to the Design Service Platform then it cannot be downloaded through the Download Orders Button, and it might need to be imported manually back into the Dental System. https://support.fullcontour.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407269229851-3Shape-Dental-System-Importing-Orders
Option 1: Clicking the download button with no orders highlighted
1. If no orders are highlighted, click on the Download Orders Button.
2. Is going to ask the platform for any cases that are ready for download by checking your location.
3. It will give you the list of cases under the "Ready for Download" Status on the design Service Platform.
4. You can click on the check box for the cases that you would like to download and then click on "Download Selected Orders".
It will start downloading them from the platform and importing them back into the Dental System.
5. You will see how the Internal Status changes to "Imported", you can close the window and see how the order will update in the Dental System.
You can interact with the complete order as if you designed the case.
Important: The case status on the Design Service Platform for the orders that were imported through the Download Orders Button will change from "Ready for Download" to "Complete".
Note: For cases in "Sent to Manufacturer" or "At Manufacturer," you can highlight the specific order to import it back into the Dental System.
Option 2: Clicking the download button with orders highlighted
It will check every single case to find any cases in the "Ready for Download" status.
At the same time, it will update the internal Status in the Dental System to match the Case Status on the Design Service Platform.
You can redownload any cases as needed if they were moved to the "Complete" Status by following the same steps you did initially.
Note: For cases in "Sent to Manufacturer" or "At Manufacturer," you can highlight the specific order to import it back into the Dental System.
Below you can find some messages you can get when clicking on the download button and the reason:
1. No cases ready for download found
If you click on the Download Orders Button, with no orders highlighted and no cases under the "Ready for Download Status" on the Design Service Platform, this is what you will get back:
2. Order is not in a valid state
This means that the case you are trying to download is not in the "Ready for Download Status" on the Design Service Platform.
After closing the window it will update the internal Status in the Dental System to match the Case Status on the Design Service Platform.
3. Case not found
1. The order was never uploaded to the platform, it cannot be found.
2. The order was not uploaded through the Upload Orders Button in the Dental System.
If the order was uploaded via Drag and Drop to the Design Service Platform then it cannot be downloaded through the Download Orders Button, and it might need to be imported manually back into the Dental System. https://support.fullcontour.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407269229851-3Shape-Dental-System-Importing-Orders
Changing Username or Password
1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Navigate to 3rd Party Applications under the Dental Manager heading.
3. Select the 3Shape Design Service application.
4. Update your username and/or password.
5. Save changes and exit the Control Panel.
Removing the Button
1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Navigate to 3rd Party Applications under the Dental Manager heading.
3. Select the 3Shape Design Service application.
4. Click Delete in the left-hand menu.
5. Save changes and exit the Control Panel.
