In this article, we will go over frequently asked questions regarding Nightguards Crowns.
Why is my Nightguard rigid and not flat?
If a customer sends an order to Automate with a crossbite, Automate cannot produce a flat-plane nightguard. When the software opens the bite on cases with not-ideal occlusion, it can oftentimes throw off the plane of occlusion, resulting in uneven flat-plane surfaces.
Why is my Nightguard not covering the teeth on both sides?
The cause is a diastema on both sides of the upper jaw, and it can be fixed by filling up the diastema either by sculpting in the CAD software, such as 3shape Dental system, or can it up with an impression material or wax before scanning the patient to avoid the issue with the Nightguard not covering the teeth.
Why is there a hole in my Nightguard?
The missing scan data (aka holes in the scan) will cause the AI software to think it has excess data and not capture the full mouth. We suggest rescanning and capturing all data for this case to work properly.
Why do I have occlusion issues?
Occlusion values will be honored after the minimum thickness. So if the minimum thickness gets violated by occlusion preferences, then it will be ignored. You will need to check the bite before sending it to make sure it will be honored. Automate will not open the bite.
Why do I have fitting issues?
Typically, inward retention shouldn't be that high; it will start messing with pull-on teeth. You should change the offset and blockout settings if you need a tighter fit. The Automate settings for inward retention go up to 0.25. An inward retention above 0.25 would be rather extreme.
