In this article, we will go over sending a Splint or Nightguard case to us for design
If you plan to produce your Splints/Nightguards in-house, prior to sending your first order, please ask customer service to provide you with sample files to establish your correct printer settings.
Once established, please contact customer service and they will update your account for all future orders. This is an important step to ensure a greater level of consistency from print to print.
There are two ways you can submit your Splint or Nightguard Orders to 3Shape Design Service for design.
Option 1: 3Shape Design Service sets up your order.
Option 1 is for those who DO NOT have the Splint Studio software to set up orders.
For your Design, we will need the Upper, Lower, and Bite scan STL in one compressed zipped folder. You will manually drag and drop the zipped folder to the 3Shape Design Service Portal.
- Indication - Splint/Nightguard
- Destination - In-House or Integrated Manufacturer
- Arches - Select only ONE arch for the design
- Instructions - Provide us with the numerical bite for which the bite will be opened
- Design Guide - Adjust parameter settings, our defaults are set in Green
Note: If we do not have all three scans, our design team will place the case on HOLD.
Option 2: You create the order in 3Shape 'Dental Manager' and select the "Splint Studio" Module (Standard Fee)
Note: If "Splint Studio" does not appear in your drop-down menu, it means the add-on is not available. You can reach out to your reseller or 3Shape Support for more information on how to enable the module.
If you have the option enabled, you will set up the order in Dental Manager and export the entire order. Once the zipped folder has been exported, you will manually drag and drop the zipped folder to the 3Shape Design Service Portal.

Note: You must include the material in your order setup or we will place the case on HOLD
Once all steps have been completed you are ready to send. Just click on the blue paper airplane to send. The turnaround time is 24 business Hours!
