In this article, we will go over how to send an NTI case to us for design.
Once established, please contact customer service, and they will update your account for all future orders. This is an important step to ensure a greater level of consistency from print to print.
There are two ways you can submit the case for design:
Option 1: 3Shape Design Service sets up your order. This option is for those who DO NOT have the Splint Studio software to set up orders.
We will always need:
- Upper STL
- Lower STL
- Bite STL
1. Place your files in a folder
2. Then right-click, send to compressed zipped folder
3. Open Google Chrome and log in to your 3Shape Design Service Account:

4. Drag and drop or browse the .zip file into the platform.
Option 2: You create the order in 3Shape 'Dental Manager' and select the "Splint Studio" Module
Note: If "Splint Studio" does not appear in your drop-down menu, it means the add-on is not available. You can reach out to your reseller or 3Shape Support for more information on how to enable the module.
If you have the option enabled, you will set up the order in Dental Manager and send the entire order.
Case instructions:
- Indication - Splint. As soon as you select this indication, the Turnaround time will auto-select to 24 hours.
- Instructions - Please provide the numerical value of the bite opening required. For closed‑bite scans: Specify the exact amount (in millimeters) by which the bite should be opened. We do not open bites.
- Destination - In-House or Integrated Manufacturer
- Name - Patient first + last name

Arches - Upper or Lower.. We only design one arch per case.

IMPORTANT: It's a must to select the design guide code "Standard NTI Appliance" under Splint Type in the design guide codes.
Send the case for design:
Once all steps have been completed, you are ready to send. Just click on the blue paper airplane to submit case by case, or click on "Send All Cases" to send several cases for design at the same time.
Once the case is designed, you will get it back for review, and all the files will be available for you to download.
